James Street station was located not too far from where the existing James Street station on the Merseyrail network is located. The LOR's James Street station was located on the corner of Mann Island and Strand Street - opposite James Street in fact.
This rare colour picture from the 1950s shows a southbound train at
James Street station.
The Liver Buildings can be seen in the background, to the left.
This picture from the 1930s shows another of the bow-string bridges
on the Liverpool Overhead Railway.
This picture was taken from Mann Island, looking landwards. The
White Star Line offices can be seen behind the bridge.
This picture, taken from the same location as above, clearly shows the
White Star Line building is still standing,
but any trace of the Overhead Railway has long disappeared.
James Street is to the right of the White Star Line building.
A bus is parked outside the present day James Street station.
